Memo of Understanding
Availability: Get Inspired Flight is a small operation and therefore training schedule, times, and availability are not guaranteed; and
Ability: the number of hours, the number of lessons, and the calendar time that I will need in order to achieve a license and/or endorsement are not guaranteed, and are instead dependent on my personal ability to reliably meet standards; and
Simulator: a flight simulator is a standard part of the Get Inspired Flight curriculum and I will fly virtually -- not only on inclement weather days and when equipment is not available, but also at other such times as may be recommended by my instructor; and
Ground School: ground school is a vital part of my training, including preparation for the FAA Knowledge Test, cross-country solo, and the oral portion of my checkride, in addition to any areas and topics necessary to be a capable, competent, & safe pilot; and Get Inspired Flight will invest in my training by offering a flight instruction subsidy if I wish to take part; and
Cancellation: lesson time is booked and reserved for me, and canceling at the last minute causes a direct expense to the school -- while illness and emergencies happen, I will also be respectful & mindful of this commitment, and I understand that I may be charged a cancellation fee equal to one hour of flight instruction if I cancel too frequently; and
Insurance: Get Inspired Flight requires a student to obtain and maintain aircraft solo insurance prior to soloing; and
Solo: Get Inspired Flight requires that students pass their FAA Knowledge Tests prior to proceeding to the solo cross-country portion of flight instruction; and
Mock/Practice: as preparation for my checkride, mock oral and mock practical lessons are a standard part of the Get Inspired Flight training program; and
Dual Time: per 14 CFR 61.109 (l), all of my flight instruction (“dual”) hours will count toward a Sport Pilot license, and none will count as dual toward a Private Pilot license until I become a “holder of a Sport Pilot certificate”; and
At Will: there is no binding obligation by either party, and I am free to cease training at any time; and
Trust: I will discontinue my training if I find that I do not trust the judgment of my flight instructor; and
Payment: I must pay for all aircraft, simulator, and/or instructor time that I receive.
